Give Yourself a Break

Something I pride myself on is that I am very much a good, kind person.  I help people out, I try to make them feel better when they are down, and always see all sides of a story.  When a friend makes a mistake, I make exceptions for them and help them to feel better about it.  But when it comes accepting my own mistakes and moving on, that does not come as easily.  Why is it so hard to treat ourselves the way we treat others and just give ourself a break?? All Adventurous Women Do: Thoughts on Girls, Ep 3

So last night’s episode of Girls definitely solidified my stance on the show.  I’m gonna love it.  While a bit iffy after watching the pilot, the second episode definitely grabbed my attention more, and after the third episode I can now say I’m in love. Continue reading

Rage Against ‘Curvy’ Usage

What is your body type?  I hate this question on Ok Cupid.  The site offers a plethora of different options–skinny, thin, average, fit, curvy, etc.  I always get stumped on this question, I’m in pretty good shape (hot yoga, cardio barre), but like most girls, I’m self-obsessive and tend to see myself in distorted circus type mirror.  I am rather gifted in the chest arena, have a tiny waist, and hips that I’m sure will come in handy one day for birthing babies.  I’m cute, small, and curvy.  But if I ever selected ‘curvy’ on a dating profile, that would be a red flag for something entirely different than what I described above. Draw Something Tips

I’ve recently become obsessed with this silly app called Draw Something, and I thought I’d do a kind of random post today about it. Not to brag or anything, but I’m pretty good at the game. And I always get really disappointed when I receive a play from someone who sucks. So I thought I’d offer a few helpful hints to get your Draw Something game up to speed. Continue reading

Do Others’ Opinions Matter?

As human beings we’re perpetually seeking approval from others, whether it’s in the clothes we wear, the cars we drive, or even the people we choose to date.  Bringing the boyfriend home to meet mom and dad is always a big occasion, it’s the moment when you’ll find out if they approve of your new match or not.  If they don’t like him, what does that say about you?  That you have bad taste, that you can’t get anyone better, the list goes on and on.  Introducing a new guy to your friends can be just as daunting.  Some friends are even more scrutinizing than parents.  But when it comes to matters of the heart, how much do friends (or family members) opinions really matter? Sometimes You Just Wanna Jump on a Trampoline

I am working 20-something, and all my friends are mostly working 20-somethings too.  So I don’t get a lot of opporutunities to interact with kids.  Well, I interview and work with tween type celebrities on a regular basis at work, but not very often in a purely fun, down-to-earth environment.  So this weekend, I was thrilled to be invited to a 2-year-old’s birthday party.  I know that probably sounds a little peculiar…but I was legit excited, I love kids but just rarely get to be around them these days! Continue reading

Thoughts on HBO’s Girls

So I’m a little torn. I did enjoy the first episode, but I think I expected a little more as well…after all there was a lot of hype going around! I actually think if I hadn’t heard so much about the show beforehand, that I probably would have liked it better. The show centers around Hannah, a 20 something wannabe writer living in NYC. As a 20 something trying to break into film (albeit living on the opposite coast), I could definitely relate to the tale. Continue reading

The Annoying Habit of Guys Ghosting

Okay let’s be honest, there are a lot of pretty horrible ways to break up with someone. Over the phone, maybe a pathetic text message explanation, or I was even once broken up with in an email while the guy was in a foreign country…yeah that was awkward. When Carrie was ridiculously broken up with on a post-it note, we were all shocked by the lack of courage some guys have. I’m sorry, I can’t, don’t hate me. But now a days, it seems guys are getting more and more chicken. Now they can’t even go the post-it note route, instead they are choosing to disappear altogether. So a guy seems super into you and texts you all the time one day, and then a week later he mysteriously disappears and leaves you with an empty text inbox? Well, I’m sorry to break it to you my friend, but you seem to the victim of guy ghosting. Continue reading

7 Reasons to Love Having Roommates

The last couple of weeks one of my roommates or me has been gone every weekend. It’s always a nice feeling when everyone is back in the house together. Our house is kind of like Sex and the City. 4 girls, all a little crazy and fun. I can’t believe that people complain about having roommates–I personally love coming home and hanging out with my roommates…it feels like a family away from home. Here are the reasons I LOVE having roommates… Continue reading
